  2.      Computer shopper did a test of ten 14,400 faxmodems. Pub Feb 94 issue.
  3. They  rated  Zoom #1 with a score of 1531.5 (out of 1600.0).  Next  closest
  4. Intel  - 1507.7 and Boca - 1503.0.  Except for the last two, (ATI -  1276.0
  5. and  Zoltrix - 1140.0) the other modems scored quite closely, above  1465.0
  6. but under 1500.0.

  9.      "ZOOM remained unaffected by our land-line impairment, posting  nearly
  10. identical rates for our incompressable file on best-line and impaired  line
  11. sumulations."

  13.      Oddly,  the  base-test  modem,  a USR  Sportster  14,400,  did  better
  14. connected to Zoom than when transferring between two USR modems on impaired
  15. lines.
  16.      BTW,  the  mail order price of the external 14,400 is  shown  as  $190
  17. (when  they  did the test), but is often less than $149, and  the  internal
  18. $129.
